Ledo’s Free Music Library is a music library filled with fresh fully cleared original music from real music makers. It is available for free to content creators who are looking for music to use and synchronize in certain types of visual content. Each track in the Free Music Library is available for one or more specific categories of use, called the ‘Permitted Use Types’.

Music makers can optionally make their tracks available in the Free Music Library as part of Ledo’s distribution service. For each track uploaded and distributed through Ledo, the music maker can select whether to make it available in the Free Music Library and for what categories of use (“Permitted Use Types”).

Ledo’s Free Music Library is an easy and effective way for music makers to gain extra exposure for their music and for content creators to obtain fully cleared music for their social media posts or other creative projects without having to go through a complex and expensive licensing process.

Ledo’s Free Music Library can be used by all types of content creators, large or small, professional or amateur, who are looking for free and fully cleared music to use in their visual content. All music in the Free Music Library is fully cleared for worldwide usage in social media posts without advertisement and some for additional types of usage, for free! For all tracks in the Free Music Library is indicated for what categories of usr, Permitted Use Types, each individual track is available for.

  • Social Media - No Ads

    Tracks marked with Permitted Use Type ‘Social Media – No Ads’ can be used in social media posts without any sponsored ads, on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Triller, Snap and Twitter. For example, you can add these tracks in personal non-sponsored vlog on YouTube, TikTok video or Instagram Story, or your stream on Twitch.

  • Social Media - Including Ads

    Tracks marked with Permitted Use Type ‘Social Media –Including Ads’ can be used in social media posts, including in posts to promote a brand, service or product, on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Triller, Snap and Twitter. For example, in your sponsored vlog on YouTube or in your Facebook, Triller or Instagram post to promote a shampoo or new sneaker brand.

  • Other Media - No Ads

    Tracks marked with Permitted Use Type ‘Other Media - No Ads’ can be used on any other media in content without ads. For example, in a movie, TV series, app, game, wedding movie, during non-branded (live) events, in non-branded podcasts and content for TV, radio, online, in personal, educational and student projects, or in a documentary.

  • Other Media - Including Ads

    Tracks marked with Permitted Use Type ‘Other Media - Including Ads’ can be used on any other media in any content, including content with ads. For example, in online, TV, radio and in-store advertisements, in game-, app- and movie trailers, in branded podcasts, branded or sponsored content for TV, radio, online, in charity and company productions and during sponsored events.

Content creators need to first create a user account and profile and accept the Free Music Library License Agreement before being able to access the Free Music Library and download and use any tracks.

All music in the Free Music Library is available to content creators for one or more certain categories of use, indicated as the Permitted Use Types. For each individual track in the Free Music Library is indicated for what Permitted Use Type(s) that track can be used.
This overview provides a description of the available Permitted Use Type(s) as well as the categories and types of use they each allow.

Music Maker

If you distribute your track(s) through Ledo’s distribution service, you have the option to add your tracks, on a track-by-track basis, to the Free Music Library when uploading and publishing your release(s).When selecting whether to make your track(s) available in the Free Music Library, you will also have the ability to choose what categories of use you wish to allow for each track.

If you want to make your track(s) available in the Free Music library after you published and distributed them through Ledo’s distribution service, you can select to include them in the Free Music Library at a later stage from the ‘Free Music Library’ tab of each release in your profile.

If you decide to make your track(s) available in the Free Music Library you have the option to make them available for the following categories of use, the Permitted Use Types:
  • Social Media - No Ads

    Tracks marked with Permitted Use Type ‘Social Media – No Ads’ can be used in social media posts without any sponsored ads, on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Triller, Snap and Twitter. For example, you can add these tracks in a personal non-sponsored vlog on YouTube, TikTok video or Instagram Story, or your stream on Twitch.

  • Social Media - Including Ads

You can only include tracks in our Free Music Library if you own or hold the exclusive rights into the sound recording and if you have obtained permission from the rights holders who own and/or control the rights into the underlying musical composition(s) to grant sync licenses for your track via the Free Music Library.

As a general rule, you can only include tracks in our Free Music Library if you own or hold the exclusive rights into the sound recording and if you have obtained permission from the rights holders who own and/or control the rights into the underlying musical composition(s) to grant synch licenses for your track via the Free Music Library. This means you are responsible for obtaining all licenses and/or permissions required for including your (cover)tracks in the Free Music Library. Permission to grant synchronization licenses in relation to compositions is usually obtained directly from the rights holder, usually the composer itself or its publisher. If you are unsure whether you own and/or hold all the required rights to include your (cover)tracks in the Free Music Library, do not include them in the Free Music Library.

No, you can’t. We do not allow any tracks in the Free Music Library that contain samples.

After including your track(s) in the Free Music Library, you can remove them from the Free Music Library after the end of the distribution term. You can, however, change the Permitted Use Types for each track from the ‘Free Music Library’ tab of each release in your profile at all times. If you wish to remove your track(s) from the Free Music Library before the end of the distribution term, please email our support team on support@ledomusic.is.

Once you have made available all or a selection of your tracks in the Free Music Library, you can change the Permitted Use Type settings of each tracks at all times from the ‘Free Music Library’ tab of each release in your profile. Please note that any changes made to Permitted Use Type settings do not affect the validity of any licenses granted through the Free Music Library for that track before the moment when those changes were made.

No, at this stage all music in the Free Music Library is available to content creators to use in their content for free, and Ledo does not charge content creators any fee for usage or access. If you make any of your tracks available in the Free Music Library, you agree to make them available for use to content creators for free. Including your music in the Free Music Library offers you the chance to get that extra exposure and social reach for your music, which may eventually translate into more plays and more royalties earned from services like Spotify, Deezer or Apple Music.

If you notice that a content creator is using your music from the Free Music Library beyond the Permitted Use Type(s) or Publication period or in violation of our Community Guidelines, please email claims@ledomusic.is.

Content Creator

All music available in the Free Music Library can be downloaded and used by content creators worldwide and for free for the categories of use, the Permitted Use Types, indicated for each individual track available. All music is fully cleared, the sound recording as well as the underlying musical composition, for use in social media posts without advertisement and some music for additional Permitted Use Types.

Before being able to access the Free Music Library and download and use any tracks, you first need to create a user account and profile and accept the Free Music Library License Agreement.

Once you downloaded a track from the Free Music library, you are allowed to use that track worldwide in any content of the Permitted Use Types published by you during the first six months following the day you downloaded that track (the “Exploitation Period”) in perpetuity. When downloading a Free Music Library track, we will send a license receipt to your registered email address that contains an overview of the key terms on which you are allowed to use that track in your creative content. The license receipt will include an overview of the Permitted Use Types and Publication Period for that track, as well as relevant track details (such as track and artist name and ISRC).

All music sourced from our Free Music Library must be used in content that meets the Permitted Use Type(s) and that was published within the Publication Period indicated on your license receipt. In addition, any music sourced from the Free Music Library must be used in accordance with our Community Guidelines at all times. When using a track from the Free Music Library please do not forget to credit the music maker.

Ledo's Free Music Library allows you to search for music based on Permitted Use Type(s), music makers, labels, genre, BPM and mood.

Yes, all music in Ledo’s Free Music Library is fully cleared worldwide for certain categories of use, the Permitted Use Types. On top of that, usage is completely free of charge.

If you have selected and downloaded a track from the Free Music Library, you can use and synchronize it your creative content that meets the Permitted Use Type(s) indicated for that track at the time of downloading as well as on your license receipt. Each track may be used worldwide and in perpetuity in any content that meets the Permitted Use Type(s) published by you during the Publication Period; being the period starting the day you download the track and ending six (6) months later. You are allowed to edit the track to have it fit your content. You are not allowed to remix the track, to use it beyond the Permitted Use Type(s) or in content published beyond the Publication Period indicated. In addition, any music sourced from our Free Music Library must be used in accordance with our Community Guidelines at all times. When using a track from the Free Music Library please do not forget to credit the music maker. For each track you download from the Free Music library, you will receive a license receipt that includes an overview of the basic terms of use, including Permitted Use Type(s) and Publication Period.

Select a track, download it from the Free Music Library after agreeing to our Free Music Library License Agreement and you are ready to include it in your audio-visual content as long as your use meets the Permitted Use Type(s) for such track and the content you use the track in is published during the first six months after you downloaded the track (the “Publication Period”). Each track you download from the Free Music Library is accompanied by a license receipt send to your email address, which includes the main license terms for your use of the track, including Permitted Use Type(s) and Publication Period.

Yes, after you have selected a track you would like to use in your creative content and accepted our Free Music Library License Agreement you will have the ability to download the track.

You can download music from the Free Music Library in mp3 format.

Once you have selected and downloaded a track from the Free Music Library, you can use it worldwide and in perpetuity in any audio-visual content created by you that meets the Permitted Use Type(s) that was published during the Publication Period, being the first six months after downloading the track. For each track you download from the Free Music library you will receive a license receipt.

No, you are not allowed to remix any track from the Free Music Library. You are only allowed to cut and edit the track to match it to fit the content you wish to use it in.

Yes, you can. You are free to edit a Free Music Library track and cut it to the required length to have it fit your creative content.

Yes, you should credit the music maker where possible. They deserve our recognition!

No, Free Music Library licenses are provided only to you and your profile and only for your and your profile member’s creative projects. You cannot transfer your Free Music Library license and track to anyone else. If someone else wishes to obtain a license to a certain Free Music Library track, please refer them to our Free Music Library to obtain a license directly themselves.

Yes, you can monetize the visual component on the video, not the audio part. Use of the audio is monetized by Ledo.
